About Us

  • The HRCAA publishes a full colour high-quality QUARTERLY journal,          "The Australian Hornby Collector" as part of the membership subscription.
  • Notices of forthcoming meetings and events are advertised in the journal.
  • Reports of monthly meetings from all States & the ACT with photographs of members' layouts and collections.
  • Informative articles that give a better insight into the history and development of models collected.

  • Meetings are held periodically in all Australian States & the ACT.
  • Typically monthly on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon at selected venues.
  • The meetings regularly include displays and/or model layouts.

  • HRCAA auctions are for members only and are a great way for members to enhance their own collections and dispose of surplus items.
  • They are usually held in Sydney, Melbourne and the AGM host city.
  • A range of collectable model trains, accessories, books and other items is sold and there are always a few bargains to be had.
  • Anything from about 200 to 400 lots are on offer, submitted for sale by HRCAA members. A small vendor's commission goes towards HRCAA funds. There is no buyer's premium payable.

  • The HRCAA Annual General Meeting is a national event.
  • It is held in a different town or city each September or October.
  • It occupies a full weekend and is well attended by HRCAA members and families.
  • Activities include layout visits, an annual dinner, the AGM at which office-bearers are installed for the following year, and a day-long auction.

  • The HRCAA has a committee of 20 members who meet three times a year, comprised of President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Editor, Membership Secretary, & two representatives per State and ACT who organise monthly meetings & represent general members.
